Swivel reimagined how offices were leased. It allowed commercial real estate brokers to virtually tour spaces, collaborate with tenants, and execute leases faster and more efficiently.
Swivel presented a uniquely challenging experience - changing the way that commercial office space is discovered, toured and leased. To this point in my career, I had never so deeply immersed myself in a new industry. I had also never designed across so wide a platform of solutions - from tools that calculated lease agreements, to office design and configurations builders, to 3D office tours.
Swivel afforded me an opportunity I'd always wanted - to build product design efforts from scratch. I worked with some brilliant founders and stakeholders to shift the product team toward a more design-centric approach. I created and maintained a design system and worked with developers to improve consistency through component-based implementation. I even singlehandedly designed, implemented, and instrumented the website.
As I advanced at Swivel, I had the privilege of identifying, recruiting, and managing a remarkable team of designers. I also accepted an opportunity to manage the daily operations of the off-shore development team which drastically grew my respect and understanding of the development process. For a season, I also acted as the product management lead for our core platform product.
